The Green Biscuit training puck is a special off ice puck specially made to feel and slide like a hockey puck does on the ice. We gave you an overview of the Green Biscuit, and now we are going to do a full Green Biscuit review.

Taking the Green Biscuit to the street

The first thing I did when I got the biscuit was slide it along the living room floor, it slid like a dream along the wood floor, but does it stand a chance on concrete and pavement?

Slide-a-bility on rough surfaces

The Green Biscuit is definitely slideable, I was pretty impressed with how well this little green puck slid on the pavement. I was practicing on a nice flat surface, but also tested the green biscuit on a much rougher surface and the results were both very good. I was on a nice flat piece of pavement with the biscuit and gave a nice hard pass. I was just waiting for it to flip flop all over the place…but nothing. Then I figured I would do a bit of heavy stickhandling, still nothing. It takes quite a bit to get this thing to flip over, sure it tilts from time to time, but it doesn’t fully flip very often.

Passing

The Biscuit is GREAT for passing, I have used a bunch of road hockey pucks on rough surfaces and the biggest problem with passing is when they flip up, they will roll all over the place. I liked the Green Biscuit because it stays nice and flat, and it actually gets to where you are sending it! You can do all types of passes, regular passes, fast pass, backhand passes, one touch passes, and even saucer passes.

Stickhandling

I was really impressed with how well the Green Biscuit handled, you can move it fairly quickly without it flipping over. I really like practicing toe drags with it because it slides a lot like a puck, and it is the same size as a puck as well. I can do every move with a green biscuit off the ice as I can do with a puck on the ice.

Green Biscuit compared to a hockey puck

The Green Biscuit stacks up identical to a hockey puck in shape and size, the only difference is in weight. A puck is 6 oz and the GB weighed in at 4.4 oz. The president of the company (yeah that’s how I roll) told me that they made the biscuit a bit lighter because the added friction of pavement makes it feel a bit heavier. I definitely agree! I practiced with a 60z off ice puck and it felt a lot heavier than a puck does on the ice. The green biscuit did feel very close to how a puck feels.

If you take a puck and the Green Biscuit to the street and compare them the GB wins HANDS DOWN. Stickhandling with a puck on pavement SUCKS! It made me want to slapshot the puck into oblivion.

Do I like stickhandling balls? Yeah I do. Stickhandling balls are great for quick moves, repetition and general messing around, but there is just something about them that irks me. They are too….ball like. Hockey players use pucks! That is why I loved the Green Biscuit, is slides nicely and is the same size and shape as a puck. You can see what I am talking about in the pictures.

If I want to mess around a bit and train my fast twitch muscles then I would play with a stickhandling ball, but for game like dekes and sweet toe drags I liked the GB a lot better.

Penalty Box

Nothing is perfect, so I have to assess a few minor penalties here. The first downfall with the Green Biscuit is that you can not shoot with it (well you COULD…just don’t hit the post!) After pulling a dirty dangle there’s nothing better than sniping top right, but you can’t do that with the biscuit

The next downfall is that the biscuit is a bit noisy, it didn’t really bother me that much, but I’m just throwing it out there.

Score sheet

The green biscuit came out as a winner. I will be honest and say I would have never bought this thing if I saw it online, but now that I have used it I don’t think I will ever NOT have one 😀

Here are a few things I loved about the Green Biscuit

• Slides great on any rough surface
• That crazy design ACTUALLY works, and it barely ever flips over (unless you have hands of stone)
• Feels similar to a puck on ice (better than a lot of other products)
• Works great for stickhandling and dekes
• Really liked passing with it (who wants some sauce?)
• IT’S NEON GREEN!
